This FTX will serve to evaluate the fire teams in basic battle drills. Skills that will be heavily tested during the FTX are: reaction to contact, fire & maneuver, and fire team security. A throughout debrief will be held at the end of the FTX to highlight any and all observations from the participants. It is hoped that this FTX will provide a base to structure upcoming unit training.
Scenario: A Russian conventional infantry platoon has secured three strategically important towns. Elements from the 22nd MEU have been assigned to search and destroy enemy assets and personnel located within these towns so that military facilitates may be constructed inside of them.

Area of Operation - Oscar - AO Oscar includes the area marked in Figures 1 and 2.
Observation and Fields of Fire - Foliage in the AO is dense but also contains many open areas. The objectives themselves all have foliage that may seriously obstruct observation into the towns. Observation from the labeled Observation Points should be easily accomplished due to the nature of the elevation.
Avenues of Approach - The planned scheme of maneuver is to move to hill 63 and utilize it as an OP. The element will then utilize the beach to maneuver to hill 80 and utilize it as a second OP. Personnel will then move into OB-1 -- from OB-1 the element will move due north to utilize the beach to assault OB-2 from its northern side.
Key Terrain - Critical terrain consists of "Windy Mountain (OP-1)" and hill 366 (OP-2) which both provide effective observation into all objectives.
Cover and Concealment - AO Oscar consists of a rural setting with moderate to dense foliage easily capable of concealing squad size elements. Wooded areas in AO Oscar may provide sufficient cover from small arms when personnel are prone. Wooded areas will provide sufficient concealment from enemy observation from the air. Good cover in the AO is sparse to non-existent. Personnel will have to utilize ground cover or buildings located in the AO to shield from fire.
Weather - 75 degrees F. Chance of precip 1% Winds 10MPH gusting 20. Visibility > 6KM. No chance of fog.
Composition - Russian conventional infantry platoon.
Disposition - Defensive posture.
Strength - Enemy assumed to be in good supply. Enemy forces are assumed fully combat effective at the time of the FTX.
Recent Activities - Captured OB-1, OB-2 and OB-3.
MLCOA - Mass forces and perform rapid assault of USMC elements.
MDCOA - Dig in and defend objectives from within the town centers.
NO ADDITIONAL FORCES
US Mission - Search and destroy Russian infantry platoon.
US Endstate - Minimal injury to personnel. Enemy killed or otherwise rendered ineffective.
Civilian Presence - No civilian presence - FTX environment.Mission
On order, USMC personnel will conduct squad assaults on OB-1, followed by OB-2, followed by OB-3. Squad element will hold OB-3 in preparation to repel a counter-attack. If it is determined that the squad has defeated all enemy forces, the FTX will end.Execution
Commander's Intent - Completion of mission with minimal USMC injury and death.
Scheme of Maneuver - Element will generally attempt to follow maneuver plan as marked on Figures 1 & 2. Generally, one fire team will serve as a base of fire for every objective assault. Then, two teams will maneuver out of wooded areas and into the objectives -- clearing building by building. Once the objective is declared secure, the squad will take-up defensive positions and consolidate for the next assault.

Logistics - Load outs forced by LEA. A ammo-box will be available with extra ammunition and misc equipment.
NOTE: ALL PERSONNEL WILL UTILIZE IRON SIGHTS DURING THIS FTX. MAGNIFIED OPTICS WILL NOT BE USED. PERSONNEL WILL FOLLOW INSTRUCTION FROM THEIR FTL REGARDING WEIGHT AND EQUIPMENT.

ROE - Weapons tight. Report contacts up the COC. Engage contacts if PID'd and are posing an immediate threat.
EPW - Disarm, restrain & leave on site.
